When should you switch to long cycling tights?
Depending on how well you tolerate the cold, many cyclists switch to long cycling tights below around 15 °C. It's not just about comfort. Long tights protect your knees and leg muscles from biting wind, which can help prevent injuries. Long cycling tights are also the best choice in wet fall or winter weather. As soon as fall arrives, a good pair of long tights is indispensable.
Thermal tights for winter
Thermal cycling tights (bib tights) stand out thanks to their brushed fleece interior. This fabric retains body heat, while the outer layer is water-repellent and blocks the wind. Acelera's winter tights are suitable for temperatures from 0 °C to 15 °C, making them a great match for most European winter rides.
Tip: Pay close attention to the difference between winter bib tights and long tights for the spring and fall. A transitional model is thinner and more breathable, but offers less insulation. Choose tights that suit the average temperature you ride in, rather than the coldest ride of the year.
Find the right size
Use our size chart to make sure you get the ideal fit. Long cycling tights that are too tight will pinch when climbing, while tights that are too loose will bunch up at the knees. If the size isn't quite right after all, you can always return them to Acelera for free.
