When to switch to long cycling tights?

For most female cyclists, women's long cycling tights are the sign that the season is getting serious. As soon as temperatures drop below 10 degrees Celsius, shorts, even with leg warmers, are no longer enough. Good long cycling tights keep your legs warm, protect your knees from cold wind and still let you ride comfortably without stiffening up.

Long cycling tights are also the better choice in rainy weather in fall or early spring. Wet leg warmers clinging to your legs are both uncomfortable and dangerous; water-repellent long tights keep you drier and therefore safer on the bike.

Thermal and water-repellent for cold weather

The thermal cycling tights in the Acelera range are made for riding in temperatures of roughly 0 to 12 degrees Celsius. A soft fleece interior retains warmth, while the water-repellent outer fabric protects you from spray and wet roads. Not fully waterproof, but able to handle a good drizzle without you arriving home soaked.

Our women's long cycling tights are developed for optimal comfort, so you can pedal and move freely, even in the riding position. Reflective details on the front and back keep you visible at dusk or in the dark.

Pairing women's long cycling tights with your outfit

Long cycling tights pair best with a thermal undershirt as a base layer, a long sleeve cycling jersey and a windbreaker or rain jacket as the outer layer. Layering is the only way to stay comfortable for the whole ride in changeable Dutch winter weather. Better to start with one layer too many than one too few; you can always take extra layers off and stash them in your back pocket.

Also pair your long cycling tights with cycling gloves, cycling socks and optionally overshoes for complete protection. Browse our full range of women's accessories for everything you need to keep riding, even in the darkest months.
