Why choose a cycling jersey?
Unlike a regular sports shirt, a cycling jersey has a number of functional features that help you perform better. The fit is tailored to typical cycling movements. Cycling jerseys are suitable for both ambitious races and recreational rides. The cycling jerseys from Acelera with zip, collar, zip stopper, and pockets are especially comfortable and practical.
Functional cycling clothing: Materials
Functionality is incredibly important for cycling apparel: the material of a cycling jersey needs to be stretchy, so you have plenty of freedom of movement on the bike. It is just as important that the material is breathable. This ensures sweat and moisture are effectively moved away from the skin. So even during intense training, you stay well protected against cold and sun.
Temperature regulation plays an important role. Whether you ride on chilly or warm days, your body should not cool down too much or overheat. That is why there are cycling jerseys for summer - made from very lightweight material - as well as thermal jerseys for winter. Insulating layers such as fleece protect against cold and wet conditions, and a windproof membrane at the front keeps out the cold airflow. There are even cycling tops with UV protection, which help reduce the risk of sunburn.
Cycling jerseys also need to be practical; in our rear pockets, for example, you can store your keys, phone, and energy bars. In addition to our subtle black, white, or grey cycling jerseys, cycling jerseys are also available in red and blue.
Purpose and preference: the fit of your cycling jersey
Acelera’s cycling jerseys are slightly shorter at the front and slightly longer at the back. This means there are no uncomfortable folds around your stomach when you lean forward, while your lower back stays covered. Our models are specially developed for road cyclists.
Cycling jerseys for riders who love speed
Every second counts when setting new records, and a loose shirt will slow you down. That is why our race jerseys have a close fit. They wrap your upper body like a second skin and create minimal wind resistance.
The cycling jerseys feature a zip, so you can put them on quickly despite the tight fit. The zip closes the jersey all the way up to the neck, helping block the airflow. To prevent air pockets from forming under the jersey, the bands at the sleeves and on the back are made from elastic material and finished with silicone grippers.
Short-sleeve cycling jerseys pair well with arm warmers or lightweight cycling jackets and cycling gilets. They adapt to current temperatures and weather conditions.
Men's cycling jerseys
Men’s cycling jerseys are designed differently from women’s cycling jerseys, simply because men and women have different anatomy. Women’s cycling jerseys are wider at the chest and even narrower at the waist. The shoulder area is also narrower. So you should choose the right cycling jersey for your gender, because the fit offers the best support for the performance of the male or female rider.

Caring for your cycling jersey
Wash your cycling jersey after every ride, preferably in the washing machine. Never wash the jersey too hot; a gentle wash at 30° C is recommended. Never use fabric softener, as it can damage the fibres of the technical fabric. Cycling jerseys also don’t handle the tumble dryer very well. So after washing, hang your cycling jersey up to air dry. With special textile care, you can keep the fabrics breathable for longer and the colour bright. Read the recommended washing instructions here.
