When should you switch to long cycling tights?

Depending on how well you tolerate the cold, many cyclists choose long cycling tights below around 15°C. It's not just about comfort. Long tights protect your knees and leg muscles from the biting wind, which can help prevent injuries. Long cycling tights are also the best choice in wet autumn or winter weather. Once autumn begins, a good pair of long tights is essential.

Thermal tights for winter

Thermal cycling tights (bibtights) stand out with their brushed fleece lining. This fabric retains body heat, while the outer layer repels water and blocks the wind. Acelera's winter tights are suitable for temperatures from 0°C to 15°C. They work well for most European winter rides.

Tip: Pay close attention to the difference between winter bibtights and long tights for the transitional seasons. A transitional pair is thinner and more breathable, but offers less insulation. Choose tights that suit the average temperature you ride in, rather than the coldest ride of the year.

Find the right size

Use our size guide to make sure you get the ideal fit. Long tights that are too tight can pinch when climbing, while tights that are too loose will bunch up around the knees. If the size still isn't quite right, you can always return them to Acelera free of charge.
