Three routes for the weekend (or during the week if you have the time)
At VeloScout and Acelera, we never stand still. If we're not working, we're out on the bike. And while riding, we keep discovering beautiful new routes. These routes are so good that it would be selfish not to share them with you. In this blog, we gradually make our way south. First, we share a stunning route in North Holland, then a true South Limburg gem, and we finish with a real leg-breaker in the Ardennes.
Acelera: Waterleidingduinen Loop
If you live in Amsterdam or by the coast, you might already know this route. This classic takes you past all the best parts of the Randstad, without constantly riding through residential areas. If you start in Amsterdam, you’ll need to push through the first part. It takes about 20 minutes before you're properly out of the city and the real enjoyment begins. Forest, dunes, and flower fields — this route has it all. Our tip: treat yourself to fresh fish from one of the fish stalls by the beach.
Acelera: Beautiful Route Around Maastricht
It may be stating the obvious that cycling in Limburg is beautiful, but we’ll say it anyway: this ride is a real gem. It takes you past rivers, small lakes, and two border crossings. You could even call it a cross-border beautiful ride. With 550 metres of elevation, this route is manageable for everyone, and there are plenty of cafés and stops along the way to catch your breath.
Acelera: Ardennes - Bouillon - Loop from Paliseul
As everyone knows, the Ardennes are one of the first real tests close to home. This route has over 1000 metres of elevation, and just when you're getting into your rhythm (read: you're about ⅔ of the way through), you're hit with three short climbs at 10%. That’s why we call this route a real leg-breaker. Fortunately, after those three climbs, the rest of the route is fairly flat. This ride does demand some character at times, so if you're just getting started on the bike, we’d recommend choosing a different route.
