Which cycling jersey do you wear in which weather conditions?
We all know it: the days are getting shorter and the temperature keeps dropping. Still, you tell yourself, “I don’t want to stop riding, but which cycling jersey should I wear to stay warm?” In this blog, we’ll take you to your cycling wardrobe and help you choose the right cycling jersey to wear!
Temperature: 15 to 25 degrees, a lovely sunny day!
This is what it’s all about: an unexpected beautiful sunny day! We can keep it simple here: you wear short bib shorts and put on a nice Acelera cycling jersey. Thanks to the high breathable capacity and the full-length zip, you can regulate your temperature well. You’re now ready for a great ride, enjoy!
Temperature: 5 to 15 degrees, a windy day but dry!
A crisp autumn day, it stays dry and there’s a strengthening southerly wind. You need to be prepared for that wind before you’re caught out by its force and cold. That’s why it’s important to pick the right cycling jersey from your wardrobe. We recommend a windproof cycling jersey or a cycling jacket with base layer that gives you enough ventilation!
Temperature: 5 to 15 degrees, a typical Dutch day! Wind & rain….
As Dutch cyclists, we’ve gotten used to it by now and no longer get surprised by a wet gust of wind in our face the moment we get on the bike. But to be properly prepared, we advise you to start with a base layer to keep the cold out. If it drops below 10 degrees, choose a long-sleeve base layer! Over that, wear a cycling jersey, with short or long sleeves. When it comes to waterproof clothing, it depends on the amount of rain. For light precipitation, a regular cycling jacket is enough. But in heavy rain, we recommend choosing a waterproof cycling jacket, paired with cycling shorts that keep you dry while riding!
Temperature: -5 to 5 degrees, a cold & chilly day!
Now it’s really starting to get cold, but that won’t stop you from getting on the bike. Which cycling jersey do you choose? And what else should you wear for a comfortable ride? Start with a base layer; a long-sleeve thermal base layer is no unnecessary luxury. Also choose warm socks, a long-sleeve cycling jersey, and insulated tights to keep your core and legs warm. Last but not least, put on insulated full-finger gloves and a beanie. That way, you’ll be ready for the Dutch cold!
Temperature: -5 to 5 degrees, brrr… cold & rain!
Rain, sleet, and a cold wind... despite these conditions, you still head out. Start with a long-sleeve thermal base layer, a pair of warm socks, and long waterproof bib shorts. Over that, choose a windproof and waterproof jacket. Also put on a pair of waterproof gloves to keep your hands warm and dry. Finally, a neck warmer to keep your neck warm and a nice beanie for your ears!
