Responsibly produced cycling jerseys
In 2022, sustainability has become one of the biggest challenges. And the clothing industry has an important role to play in making the world more sustainable. Acelera takes that responsibility seriously and aims to limit its impact by taking a critical look at how we produce, transport, and reuse. That is why we can offer our collection of cycling jerseys and bib shorts with complete confidence.
Cycling jerseys produced close to home
As we all know by now, all kinds of production - including cycling apparel - are often outsourced to countries far away. Due to lower production and labour costs in, for example, Asia, it is often more profitable to produce elsewhere. This means your cycling jersey may sometimes have travelled all over the world before it ends up in your wardrobe. From fabric to production, these logistical movements have a huge impact on our environment. Acelera aims to keep these movements to a minimum and use sustainable fabrics. That is why we produce close to home, in Italy, and use as much recycled material as possible.
Recycled fabric for cycling jerseys
The cycling jerseys from Acelera are made from recycled polyester wherever possible. Like traditional polyester, recycled polyester is a man-made fabric produced from synthetic fibres. Instead of using new materials to make the fabric, recycled polyester makes use of existing plastic. In many cases, that existing plastic comes from old water bottles, for example, which are then processed and transformed almost magically into those beautiful cycling jerseys.
High quality and long lifespan
Acelera deliberately chooses high-quality materials with a long lifespan. As a result, the cycling jerseys simply last a very long time. But it is not just the fabric that matters. We also place extra reinforcement in strategic areas to reduce wear. The focus is on timeless and functional design rather than chasing short-term trends.
Help make a difference!
Everyone can make a difference, from small actions to big impact. Follow the tips below to get the most out of your cycling jerseys:
- The washing machine gradually breaks down clothing. So wash responsibly at 30 °C.
- If possible, use the eco setting to save energy and water.
- Didn’t sweat much? Your cycling jersey might still be good for another ride — hang it outside on a clothes hanger overnight and washing may not be necessary.
- Ordered cycling clothing? Recycle the Acelera packaging, it can be placed entirely in the paper recycling bin.
